Auction

Got to see Mom and Dad some this last week. Diane had her auction Sat. and they came up Thurs. night and stayed all night. Also, IBS was at church that night on deputation and then those of us there went out to McDonalds afterwards. Mom and Dad got in a little later and then left Fri. morning to go down to help Diane finish getting things set up. Bev came and stayed Fri. night so she could be there for the auction. David and I didn't stay a long time at the auction. I don't care for auctions that much. Give me a rummage sale where I can find something I want, see the price they want for it and if I want to pay that then I can go ahead and leave. Whereas, at an auction you may see something you want and have to stay for hours before they get to it and even then you may not be able to get it because someone outbids you! :-( She had quite a bit of stuff though all of it wasn't hers. The auction ended up going until around 7:00 PM I think. Bev stayed here Sat. night but Dad and Mom stayed at Val and Bill's and left then Sun. morning. Dad forgot his jacket at Val's and it had his two heart pills in it he was supposed to take--so he didn't take them yesterday. He went to Wal Mart and got some today and then forgot to take them and his defibulator went off twice today. I guess he did take them today then around 4:00 but he wasn't feeling good this evening. He called the doctor's office and they told him to come in WED. Anyway, I'm kind of worried about him.

Birthday Month

This month is birthday month for our house! Colin was born on the 11th, Janae the 15th, and Dacia the 17th---not all in one year of course! :-) We used to celebrate their birthdays separately but they're getting older and the last couple of years we just had something on one day. Janae turned 21 this year and she wanted to do something special to celebrate. We decided to go to Branson and go for a dinner cruise on the Showboat Branson Belle. I fixed 45 encharitos and we took them to Colin and Faith's house Thurs. night--which was actually Dacia's birthday. We got there later than what I wanted to but we went ahead and ate them for our supper. I fixed some Rotel cheese dip too that some like to put on top of the encharitos. Then Fri. after we all finally got around we headed to Branson and did some shopping before time to go to the boat. We left around 6:30 to go to the boat because they start loading at 7:00. Someone told us where to go so we got there and some of the others went ahead while I took Bouncer to the bathroom etc. As we were on our way up there we met the others coming back and they told us we were in the wrong
place. :-) I called Diane and she gave me the address where they were at. Brad was talking to someone else and they gave him a different address. Needless to say we were in confusion for awhile but decided to use the address Diane gave us as she got it from the company and it took her there. We put the address in the GPS and then it wanted us to turn where there was no
road. The boat left at 8:00 so we are trying to hurry to get there. We went up a ways and turned around and finally got on the right road (GPS needs to be updated or something). It seemed like it was taking us out in the boonies and I was wondering if we were going right but we finally arrived and had like maybe 15 min. before the boat was to leave! Whew! We met up with Faith's family and Di and Val and got to board before it left! I had wanted to get there while it was still light to get some pics. but by the time we got there it was pretty dark.

You could hardly tell the boat was moving. They served us a salad and some bread and then we had some roast, a stuffed chicken breast or something, vegetables, mashed potatoes and some kind of ice cream something for dessert. After supper they had an intermission and we had some time to explore the boat and go out on the decks. They had a ventriloquist that made his dogs "talk". They wouldn't let you take pics or video that part. The last part I laughed so hard. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. He had a woman and a man come up out of the audience and every time he squeezed their neck they were supposed to open their mouth and he did his ventriloquism. We got out late and then went to good ol' McDonald's and some of us got something to eat and we set outside and visited. It was good to be with Colin and Faith. Don't get to see them a whole lot.

The next day was sooooo rainy. We were going to get an old time photo taken but they charged per person and were too expensive so we finally ended up and played some putt putt at a place that had it indoors. Then it was Taco Bell and HOME!

Camp

We finally got home yesterday after 5:00 PM. Went down Tues. before camp and ended up deciding to fix up our cabin some. We decided to paint, replace the old carpet in there and put down some linoleum in the kitchen part. Our cabin used to be part of a motel. We have an old refrigerator and little stove in there and decided to make the kitchen look like the 50's.

This is our new linoleum we put down in the kitchen part. We want to get one of those small tables in red or gray with the chrome around it to put in there and put up some red and white checked curtains.

2009- new carpet down

It's been over 20 years since we'd painted in that part and put down that carpet and we got the carpet at a rummage sale and I don't know how old it was then. Anyway, it took awhile but we finally slept in the cabin from Wed. night on.

I really like the "new tabernacle" and our new dining hall. The air conditioning was great!!

Missing Girl Found

Have you ever looked at the missing children's pictures on the billboard at Walmart? I went in the other day to a Walmart in Independence, KS and saw this picture and thought that I recognized this girl on there. I went over closer and read the sheet and it fit with this girl I knew. She said she was 18 but this other girl had said that she was 17 and she denied it. The sheet said she wasn't 18 yet and had been missing since March 27, 2009. I called David and he called the hotline. It ended up being that girl and they picked her up the other day. Anyway, I thought that was something that I would actually find someone on there!

July Happenings

I know it's been a long time since I blogged but here I am again! We left to go to Dacia's in-laws for over the Fourth of July and haven't been home since! NOT what we were expecting! We got a call while we were there that David's Aunt Doris was not expected to live so we came on down here the 5th not even stopping to go home. We got to B-ville early in the morning and went straight to the hospital. Aunt Doris was asleep when we got there. Debbie and Paul were there. They had came up a little earlier with Carl and Mary and then took them to Aunt Doris' house and came back to stay at the hospital. She woke up when her antibiotics ran out and started beeping. She started talking and seemed to be doing pretty well. We finally went to her house and went to bed around 4 AM I think. The next morning we went back and she was talking but getting tired. By that evening she was too tired for company and they had given her morphine.

David and I went on over to Mom and Dad's to stay all night. My Uncle Jr., Aunt Grace and cousin Jimmy from Washington were coming the next day. I hadn't seen Jimmy for probably 35 years or around there. They came then Tues. morning and stayed for lunch. Before we sat down to eat David got a call about Aunt Doris and he hurried up and ate and went back down to B-ville.

We went back the next day to B-ville and on Thurs. morning the doctor said it would just be hours. She passed away then Fri. morning around 9:00 or 9:30. David is one of the executers of the estate so he and some other family members made the funeral arrangements. She had prepaid for her funeral but hadn't left any instructions about who she wanted to preach her funeral etc. We had the funeral then Wed. and David and his dad have been trying to contact the different renters. One lawyer they needed to see was on vacation and wasn't able to meet them until today. Hopefully they will get the answers they need after meeting him. We might get to go home sometime THIS week! David's dad is planning on leaving tomorrow.
Then before long it's Independence Camp time and Lord willing we're going to be back up this way again. There is a Rogers reunion the last Sat. of Independence Camp so David wants to go to that. Haven't been to one in years!
Then...school. I still haven't heard about my job yet. I emailed the Superintendent Sat. and they hired the one lady back at Jonesburg but they hadn't hired a part time person for Bellflower which is where I worked. I told him part time is what I wanted and I would like to be considered for the job but I know there were two of us there that had worked part time so... We'll see what the Lord wants. We've prayed about it and it's in his hands.

Life

After we went to Bruce and Mandie's wedding we went to Colin and Faith's house. We spent Sunday with them and went to church at Ritchey where they go. Jason, Dacia and Janae went home Sun. afternoon as they had to work Mon. but David and I stayed. Sunday night Faith's family and us went to the William's house after church for food and fellowship. The next day was Memorial Day and Faith's folks had invited us to go their house. Bro. Heyer grilled some steak, brats and ribs so we had that besides all the other good food that was fixed. Got me some new recipes! :-) Came home Tues. and then Thurs. we started buying for Troy.

Campmeeting was from May 29-June 7. Bro. Noel Scott was the evangelist. The Lord met with us different times and we had some good services. Bro. Victor White passed away a little before camp started so the first Sat. morning of camp they didn't have service in the tabernacle but had his funeral in the church. Then later in the we got word my Aunt Helen was bad so Dad came up the last Fri. of camp and Diane, Janae and I went up to see her. Dad hoped to get there and get some response from her but we got there too late. She was in a coma or something and passed away around midnight that night I think. I didn't get back to the cabin until close to 2:00 AM.

They had the funeral in Bloomington, IL. We came home Sun. night and then Mon. did some washing. We ended up taking the clothes to the laundry mat in town to dry them. (We had taken a load over to Dacia's to dry as our dryer is having a problem and taking a long time to dry clothes. He went over to see if they were finished and he didn't think her dryer was heating up so we decided to take them to the laundry mat to finish drying and to dry the other load we'd washed over there.) Then we went on to Troy where I brought back the sheets for the cabin and did some vacuuming while David took some bread trays back to Aldi's. We got ready and then went on to Bloomington and made it in time to be there for part of the viewing.

Aunt Helen was Dad's only sister and they were close. His mother died when he was around one and though she was only three years older than him she was somewhat of a mother to him. They were put in an orphanage and was there until Dad was 5 years old I think. She was the only girl and had to do how much of the work even though she was so young.

These pictures were taken in 2007 at a family reunion.

Got back Tues. evening. Thurs. was my birthday and David took me out to eat some Chinese food and we took the food receipts from the camp to Lela Mae plus did some shopping at Wal Mart. :-)

We decided to go Fri. afternoon to Union Station --they have a mall there plus some other things--to celebrate Jason and my birthdays. (Jason's is the 9th and mine's the 11th) It was really neat there and the weather was so nice. Then we went out to eat at Olive Garden. David and I had never eaten there before. As we were coming home we saw a car sticking out of the shed next door to us. Colin and Faith came up and surprised us! Poor things had been there for around 2 hours. We were really surprised! I thought they were coming next week end but they changed their minds and decided to surprise us. I had made a cake for Jason's birthday so we all had some cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Then yesterday we (except for Jason and Dacia) went shopping for awhile and then that evening we had some homemade ice cream for my birthday! :-) YUM! It was so good!

And so goes life... Don't you just love summertime???

I got me another flag this year and David put it up for me the other day.
