Crazy Weekend

What a crazy weekend! I didn't have to work Fri. because of Parent/Teacher Conferences so we decided to go shopping. Our bedroom furniture is old and some of the bottoms of the drawers have fallen out so we decided to go looking for some. We went to a furniture store in Vandalia . They had some pretty ones but it was pretty expensive so we didn't go ahead and get some. We went on down to Penneys Outlet. David thought he'd heard where the mall that has Penneys Outlet was closing in January so he thought there might be some sales. We went there but if it was closing out there weren't any special sales. Mary said she'd heard the Sears store was closing there so maybe he just thought it was the whole mall-- though we didn't see any going out of business signs in the Sears window. Didn't buy a thing. So much for that!! We met Dacia and Jason in Wentzville and ate supper out at Bob Evans then went to Wal Mart. Then they came over and Jason did some painting on Janae's room (she was gone to Youth Challenge) and they left around 2:00 AM. :-)

David has been on this kick about wanting to do a whole chicken on our grill so we decided we'd have it Sat. for lunch. He put it on around 9:00 and called and asked Debbie and Paul to come eat lunch with us too. Dacia and Jason wanted to have Janae's room all done by the time she got home to surprise her so that included getting the carpet put in. David had called and left a message with a man about laying the carpet Sat. and he called and said he couldn't but this other man could, so David thought he'd better go and get the carpet before we ate lunch so we'd have it here when he came. He also called about some bedroom furniture I'd seen on Craig list to see if it was still available. He had to leave a message and she called back and said she'd be home after 5:00 or something like that and we could come and look at it. We didn't get to eat until around 2:00 and while we were eating the man called about the carpet and said he'd been trying to get us how much of the morning but the other man had given him the wrong phone number. We had to go and clean out her room of paint and stuff and clean out the bottom of the closet in the hall; because her closet runs all the way through, sweep and take up the quarter round. We actually were pretty well finished by the time he got here! He laid the carpet and then later Debbie and Paul went with us to look at the furniture. Debbie and I went in the van and David and Paul were in the truck in case we decided to buy it. It was dark by the time we got there. We decided to get it so then it had to be loaded. Dacia wanted me to let her know when we left so she could start supper. (Jason had called that morning and had wanted a big breakfast/brunch but he had thought we were having the chicken for supper so he wanted to know if we could have "breakfast" for supper) We didn't get to eat "supper" until maybe somewhere around 9:00 or after, I'm not sure. I still had to wash my hair and I wanted to get the dishes done so needless to say I got to bed late again! Whew!!!! Thank the Lord for Sunday afternoon naps!!
